Welcome

San Jose Friends Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (also known as Quakers) welcomes all to join us for worship and community as we come together to deepen our spiritual lives.

Meetings for Worship are held every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. with refreshments and fellowship following.
Childrens’ program every fourth Sunday of the month at 10:00 a.m.  The program will be either a First Day School lesson, music-making, or childcare. The children and teachers join Meeting for Worship for the final 10-15 minutes. Please let us know ahead of time if you plan to attend with children. Use the Contact Form, if you do not have the coordinator’s contact information.

Quakers are members of the Religious Society of Friends, a faith that emerged as a new Christian denomination in England during a period of religious turmoil in the mid-1600’s and continues to be practiced today.

We believe there is “that of God” in every person, and in the essential oneness and equality of all persons, regardless of skin color, national origin, ethnicity, gender or gender preference.

Like early Friends, San Jose Friends Meeting is an Unprogrammed Meeting for Worship and has neither clergy, liturgy, nor “steepled” church. We follow the original form of Quaker worship by gathering in silence and expectant waiting, without prearranged singing, Bible reading, prayers, or sermon. We integrate into our service and spiritual lives the traditional testimonies of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and harmony with nature.

San Jose Meeting is the oldest meeting in California and we are members of Pacific Yearly Meeting and College Park Quarterly Meeting.
